Interview preparation
CV
Selling yourself begins with writing a strong CV this should be no longer than 3 pages. Clients want to see facts - performance against target, accounts won, products sold etc.
Research
Once we have secured an interview for you it is important to thoroughly research the company you will be meeting. We will give you as much information as we can however it is also important to spend time researching the company for yourself, What products do they sell, what is their presence in the market, who are their competitors, have a list of pre prepared questions, showing the hiring manager you have put some effort in will impress!
Arrive Early
Give yourself plenty of time so you can relax and get yourself prepared.
First Impressions
You only get one chance to make a first impression so make sure it’s a good one, wearing a suit is a must, look smart, polish your shoes. Make eye contact and give a firm handshake, take a notepad and pen so you can make notes.
Bragg File
Show the client you are organised - if you have documentation of Sales wins, sales league tables, letters of commendation from clients, proof of earnings i.e. P60’s / wage slips, training certificates etc.. put a file together to present to the hiring manager, as well as showing you are well organised it will also back up your figures!
Closing
One of the biggest mistakes a candidate can make is not closing the interview. You are there to sell yourself, ask the hiring manager if he / she has any concerns about whether you are able to do the job, how you compare to other applicants seen, whether you will be recommended for a second interview and when that will be.
